The Test Comes First
The indoor air quality business runs largely on fear, and it is unusually easy to sell products here — a homeowner in a dusty desert metro with allergies is not hard to convince. Which is exactly why we start with measurement. If we cannot show you a number that justifies a recommendation, we do not make the recommendation.
An assessment answers concrete questions. Is particulate elevated, and where? Is humidity out of range, and in which direction and which rooms? Is your filter sealing or bypassing? Is your return pulling attic air into the system? Is static pressure so high that the system already cannot move enough air? Is there carbon monoxide anywhere it should not be?
The most common outcome of an honest assessment is not a purchase. It is a list: seal the return chase, fix the filter housing, replace one disconnected duct run in the attic, and change filters more often. Those fixes usually cost less than the equipment someone else would have sold you, and they typically do more.

Particulate Levels, Room by Room
We take readings in several rooms rather than one, because the pattern is what tells you something. Uniformly elevated particulate points toward the system and filtration; a single room far worse than the rest points to a local source, a leaky duct boot, or a return pulling from somewhere it should not.

Humidity and Temperature Mapping
Relative humidity and temperature taken throughout the home. Big room-to-room deltas usually indicate an airflow or duct problem rather than an equipment problem — useful to know before someone recommends replacing a system that is not the issue.

Static Pressure and Airflow
Total external static pressure measured across the system. A large share of Valley homes are already above their equipment maximum, which limits capacity, shortens equipment life, and makes any filtration upgrade counterproductive until it is corrected. This single number reframes a lot of conversations.

Filter Fit and Return Leakage
Whether the filter genuinely seals or air bypasses around it, and whether the return path is sealed duct or an open framed cavity connected to your attic. Return leakage is one of the most common and least discussed air quality problems in Valley housing stock.

Combustion Safety and CO
Carbon monoxide measurement near gas appliances and in the living space, plus a heat exchanger and venting inspection on gas heating equipment. This is the part of the assessment that is about safety rather than comfort, and it is included regardless of what else we find.

Sealing and Repair First
Return chase sealing, duct repair, filter housing correction and boot sealing lead the list when they apply, because they are usually the cheapest items and they frequently resolve the complaint on their own.

A filter recommendation based on your measured static pressure, not on the highest MERV number available. Where the system supports it, a media cabinet upgrade.

Straight Answers About Air Quality Assessments
What does an indoor air quality assessment include?
Particulate measurement in multiple rooms, humidity and temperature mapping, CO testing near combustion appliances, static pressure across the system, filter fit and bypass inspection, return leakage evaluation, duct camera inspection, and coil and blower wheel condition — with written findings and actual readings.
How much does air quality testing cost?
A flat diagnostic fee, quoted on the phone before scheduling and waived with any repair or air quality work you choose to have done.
Can you test for mold?
We identify visible microbial growth in the HVAC system, find the moisture source, and document conditions. We do not perform laboratory air sampling or issue clearance reports — that belongs to a certified industrial hygienist, and a contractor who both tests and sells remediation has a conflict worth avoiding.
Do I need testing before buying an air purifier?
It is the sensible order. Testing often reveals the real problem is duct leakage, a filter that does not seal, or an oversized system that never dehumidifies — none of which a purifier fixes.
What is duct leakage and why does it matter?
Air escaping from or being pulled into the duct system through gaps and disconnections. Valley ducts run through 150-degree attics, so return-side leakage pulls superheated, dusty, unfiltered air straight into your system. It is an air quality problem and an energy problem at once.
